Since 2003, when they started the Romania aid program, Peter and Betty van der Ven embodied the spirit of generosity, embracing their motto: ‘We feel the need to share from our privileged position with those who have less.’ Their unwavering commitment to this principle has left an indelible mark on the lives of many people in the diocese of Oradea.

Peter's visionary leadership and compassionate heart led to numerous initiatives that significantly improved the capabilities of Caritas. Notably, he orchestrated the acquisition of the first echographs for the policlinics of Caritas and several hospitals in Marghita city, a contribution that enhanced diagnostic capabilities and medical services for countless individuals.

Over the years, Peter van der Ven dedicated himself to collecting essential supplies such as clothes, medical instruments, medicines, bandages, and medical nutrition. His tireless efforts extended to gathering mobility aids like wheelchairs, rollators, and walking sticks, benefiting the medical depot in Osorhei and improving the mobility and independence of those in need.

The gynecology policlinic and dentistry of Caritas were recipients of Peter's steadfast support, ensuring that essential healthcare services reached those who needed them most. His benevolence, coupled with Betty's unwavering dedication, created a lasting impact on the medical landscape of Caritas.

Peter and Betty van der Ven's influence extended beyond borders, as they cultivated a vast network of sponsors and donors in the medical field and beyond. Their connections, forged through years of service as a General Practitioner, resulted in substantial donations of crucial resources to Caritas, enriching our ability to serve the community.

In collaboration with other Dutch organizations, Peter and Betty van der Ven strengthened the foundation of support for Caritas, fostering partnerships that transcended geographical boundaries for the betterment of the Romanian people.
