We bring bread to Ukrainian tables

Already in the early stages of the Ukrainian refugee crisis, we learned from field-reports that in Transcarpathia and other regions of Ukraine where there were many refugees, there was a severe shortage of bread. Mills had nothing to grind, and the bakeries which were still functioning had to work with very little flour. Therefore, in the months since February, we have tried to transfer a large part of our existing flour reserves to crisis-stricken regions via several routes – including towards aid organizations in Nevetlenfalu, Munkachevo and Vynohradiv, from where donations have been re-distributed to many other areas of Ukraine.

We are pleased to receive these feedback photos from our partner organizations, as we know that flour has arrived to the right place where it is most needed. The crisis also teaches us to look at bread with a grateful heart and to appreciate that there can be food on the tables.

We would like to express our thanks to the Village Farmers Network, the Ministry of Agriculture from Hungary and the staff of the RMDSZ, as part of the stock on which the donation was based was donated to our organization within the framework of the Hungarian Bread Program. At the same time, we would like to thank the volunteers of the Society of St. Vince of Paul, as well as the staff of the Caritas organization of the Diocese of Munkachevo for the help with the transport.
