The hot food was provided to Caritas by the financial help of SOEB foundation in the Netherlands, while the complementary foods were provided by the National Food Bank, the Dutch company HAK, european drinks, Penny Market and the Ieftinel supermarket chain. At the same time, the action also activated the community of the city center. During the distributions, unexpected food donations were offered by private individuals on several occasions, and the pancake shop next to the Church of Friends also offered a number of products to those in need.
We would like to express our thanks to the supporters of the action, the staff of the Caritas Soup Kitchen, who undertook the task to cook the extra 100 servings per week for 3 months, and to the enthusiastic volunteers of Caritas, who distributed the food steadfastly in snow, frost and rain. At the same time, special thanks go to the parish community of the Church of Friends and Father Ervin Szabó, who provided a perfectly prepared place for the action week after week.
At the same time, we express our gratitude to the local press, which regularly advertised and periodically published reports on food distributions, thus allowing as many people as possible to know about it. Special thanks go to the Plus FM radio channel, where the news of the event was promoted almost daily. In our experience, about 25٪more people in need showed up at the event after the radio announcements.
With the pictures of the last street food distribution of this winter season, we wish all our beneficiaries good health and a spring of new hope. There will be no street food distributions for the rest of the year, but at the Caritas Soup Kitchen, about 80 people will continue to receive hot lunches every weekday.
