The menu consisted of fried chicken with rice, accompanied by a jar of apple puree donated by the Dutch HAK canning factory. In addition to Caritas’ regular volunteers, Ria and Piet Beukenkamp, representatives of the SOEB foundation from Boskoop, also participated in the distribution. This foundation has been continuously financing the initiative for five years.
"I have always wanted to help people, which is why I chose to work in healthcare. At the same time, I believe it is important for people to do something for others, without personal interest, simply out of kindness. This kind of action always fills me with great joy. For example, when I see the gratitude in the eyes of the beneficiaries during food distributions, I realize how much this warm meal, prepared with love, means to them," said Dutch volunteer Ria Beukenkamp.
As part of the comprehensive aid program, which began on December 4 last year, Caritas Catolica employees and volunteers in Oradea provided firewood aid for 100 registered needy people. An additional 100 individuals and families received generous food packages for Christmas. Moreover, over a period of 12 weeks, a total of 1,200 hot meals were distributed once a week, every Wednesday, at the Franciscan Church. Thanks to the Oradea Food Bank, the meals were occasionally supplemented with yogurt, soft drinks, and bakery products.
