The overall objective of the project is to reduce the number of people belonging to vulnerable groups in Bihor County by providing a package of complex socio-healthcare services for elderly people. The project helps the organisation by financing operating, costs (salaries, fuel, rents, consumables used by carers) and the care itself, so the service is free of charge for the beneficiaries.
The target group is 180 elderly people over the age of 65 who depend on the help of others and are at risk of social exclusion, as well as 15 Caritas employees who have received 360 hours of vocational training in the field of care. Within the project, the organisation also purchases equipment and IT systems that, allow for the automatic production of all documents and the digital record keeping of beneficiaries, significantly reducing both labor time and the amount of paper used.
"The activity is carried out in the home of patients and consists of services of a medical nature: carrying out any type of health treatment prescribed by the doctor, for example: injections and infusions, bandages of all types, mobilization and massage, installation of catheters, etc. In addition we help with personal hygiene, nutrition, and other activities that fall within the scope of social care, e.g. paying bills, shopping, obtaining medicines, educating families in nursing techniques, etc.," explained Andrea Tóth, coordinator of the homecare program.
